Discover our Quality Controls

Andy Holt of our Quality Assurance Team explains how seriously we take maintaining high standards.

"At Bernard Matthews Farms we work incredibly hard across our farms and production sites, to make sure our standards are as high as possible, and our food is tasty and safe.

We are proud to say that we have true farm-to-fork traceability and can do everything from breeding and hatching our own turkeys, right through to preparing delicious food for you to eat. By having such sophisticated control over the whole process, we can guarantee high levels of quality, health and safety.

Our British credentials are a key factor in controlling the quality of the products we sell. All of our turkey products are made from 100% British turkey. We have our own hatchery in Norfolk and our farms can be found in Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire.

All our turkeys are fed on a cereal based diet, the highest proportion of which is wheat. All our wheat is grown in an area known as the "Grain bowl of Britain" in East Anglia, and our own mill, which prepares the turkeys’ food, is located in Bawsey, Norfolk. Finally all our food preparation is done in either Great Witchingham in Norfolk or Halesworth in Suffolk.

Taken as a whole, this means we have complete control, and you can have total confidence in the food we provide for you, together with some of the lowest "food miles" in the industry.

To reassure you, our packaging carries a "statement or origin" so you’ll know exactly where the meat in the product comes from. Our packaging also carries some of the many quality marks our products have attained, including the Red Tractor logo and the "Quality British Turkey" mark."
